==================================== OBJECTIVE OF THE TIPPING COMPETITION ==================================== For Participants to apply skill in accumulating tipping points during the AFL 2025 season - as set out in these terms and conditions - in order to win cash prizes from the competition prize-pool in the following ways: * Those Participants who have accumulated the highest totals of tipping points; * Participants whose total tipping points places them (relative to other Participants' total tipping points) in a specific position that is designated a prize winning position; and * Participants who are winners of the Survivor side-competitions. ======================= 1. SUBMITTING TIPS ======================= 1.1. Matches to select are grouped into "tipping rounds". 1.2. Selections (hereafter, "Tips") for matches that have not yet commenced can be submitted and changed prior to the time shown on the "Fixtures & Tips" screen at https://afl.onlinesportstipping.com (hereafter, the "Tipping Website") for each match. 1.3. When submitting Tips, players in the tipping competition (hereafter, "Participants") are required to submit a Tip and allocate Confidence Points for every match available for selection within each tipping round where the time shown adjacent to the match remains in the future. 1.4. For matches where a Participant has not submitted a Tip and Confidence Points before the time shown for the match has passed, the Participant will be allocated the team listed second on the match list at the Tipping Website for that tipping round. That Participant's Tip will also attract the lowest remaining Confidence Points score not allocated to an earlier match. ======================== 2. MAKING SELECTIONS ======================== 2.1. Possible results for all regular season matches include a winning result and a drawn result. The only result possible in matches during the Finals series is a winning result. 2.2. A Participant enters Tips using the "Fixtures & Tips" page from the Tipping Website (https://afl.onlinesportstipping.com/fixtures.asp). For each match, Participants submit a Tip for the team they believe will win the match. 2.3. When selecting a team name, a Participant's prediction is that their selected team will score more points than the opposing team. 2.4. Participants also allocate a number of Confidence Points to each of their Tips, which become the number of points scored if that Tip is successful. Sections 3.1 and 3.4 of these Terms & Conditions describe the Confidence Points available to allocate. 2.5. A Participant is required to make their first selection for the Survivor competition in Round 1, which follows the "Opening Round". Participants that remain in the Survivor competition make additional selections in subsequent rounds as per Section 9 of these Terms & Conditions. 2.6. Each set of tips submitted by a Participant includes a selection on a "Margin Match" that the Organisers have nominated. The Participant's selection predicts the margin by which the winning team will win the match. At the conclusion of the tipping round, each Participant's tip for the "Margin Match" is compared with the result of the fixture to determine "Variance": (a) If the Participant correctly picks the winning team, the Variance is the absolute difference between the actual margin in the game and the Participant's selection. There is no distinction between tipping over the margin or under the margin by the same amount. (b) If the Participant does not correctly pick the winning team, the variance is the other team's winning margin (or 0 for a draw), plus the value of the Participant's "Margin" tip. To illustrate, if a Participant had selected the home team to win by 10, below are the resulting Variances that result from a range of outcomes: - If the home team wins by 14, then the Participant has a Variance of 4 (difference between 14 and 10); - If the home team wins by 10, then the Participant has a Variance of 0 (difference between 10 and 10); - If the home team wins by 6, then the Participant has a Variance of 4 (difference between 6 and 10); - If the match is a draw, then the Participant has a Variance of 10 (margin in game [0] + Participant's selection [10]); - If the away team wins by 6, then the Participant has a Variance of 16 (margin in game [6] + Participant's selection [10]); - If the away team wins by 10, then the Participant has a Variance of 20 (margin in game [10] + Participant's selection [10]). If a tip for the Margin Match is not submitted before the match commences, the Participant will be allocated a Margin tip of 0. 2.7. Each Participant's Variance in each round (calculated in accordance with the method set out in Condition 2.6 above) is added together progressively over the course of the season and reported on the Standings page (https://afl.onlinesportstipping.com/standings.asp) labelled "Cumulative Margin" (visible when the "More details" option is selected). ===================== 3. TIPPING POINTS ===================== 3.1. Tipping Points are awarded to a Participant based on the results of each match played in the tipping round. The breakdown of Tipping Points awarded to a Participant for each match is as follows: - Tipping the team who won the match earns the number of Confidence Points selected by the Participant for that match. See Section 3.4 for Confidence Points terms & conditions. - A match that ends in a draw earns half the number of Confidence Points selected by the Participant for that match. See Section 3.4 for Confidence Points terms & conditions. - Tipping the team who lost the match earns 0 points. 3.1.1. For all matches during the Finals series, the points are awarded as per Section 3.1. 3.1.2. The Standings page at the Tipping Website shows: (a) the total Tipping Points earned during one tipping round, including bonus points; and (b) the total Tipping Points earned during in that tipping round and all preceding tipping rounds, including bonus points. ================ BONUS POINTS ================ 3.2. "Bonus Points" are also awarded to a Participant when all Tips submitted for a tipping round are correct. These points are awarded in addition to all points scored from the individual match selections. 3.2.1. The number of Bonus Points awarded to a Participant varies depending on the number of matches in the tipping round: - Correctly tipping all matches in a round comprising 9 matches earns 18 bonus points; - Correctly tipping all matches in a round comprising 8 matches earns 15 bonus points; - Correctly tipping all matches in a round comprising 7 matches earns 12 bonus points; 3.2.2. Bonus Points are not available for tipping rounds involving 4 or fewer matches, including Finals matches. =================== DOUBLE-UP BONUS =================== 3.3. Participants have the option to nominate any round (whose first match has not yet commenced) to be their "Double-up Round". All tipping points earned during a Participant's nominated Double-up Round are multiplied by 2 upon the completion of that tipping round. 3.3.1. Only one Double-up Round is available for each Participant for the duration of the competition. 3.3.2. Once a Participant has nominated a Double-up Round, they can cancel this nomination provided that the first match for the nominated round has not yet commenced. 3.3.3. A Participant may also change their nomination from one round to another provided that the first match for both rounds has not yet commenced. 3.3.4. The Double-up Round is not available during the Finals. 3.3.5. Any "Bonus Points" earned as set out in Condition 3.2 will not be doubled in a Double-Up Bonus. For example: - a perfect round containing 9 fixtures and with double-up will yield 202 points (92 confidence points x 2, + 18 bonus points). - a perfect round containing 7 fixtures and with double-up will yield 184 points (86 confidence points x 2, + 12 bonus points). ===================== CONFIDENCE POINTS ===================== 3.4.1. A Partipant earns tipping points from the Confidence Points that the Participant allocated to Tips for teams that proceed to win their matches. 3.4.2. For each tipping round, there is a set of Confidence Points available for the Participant to allocate to each of their Tips. 3.4.3. Each Confidence Points score available for the tipping round can be allocated to exactly one match in the Participant's set of Tips. 3.4.4. The Confidence Points available for a tipping round varies depending on the number of matches scheduled to be played in that round: (a) Rounds containing 9 matches have the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 (a) Rounds containing 8 matches have the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 (a) Rounds containing 7 matches have the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6 (a) Rounds containing 4 matches have the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20, 16, 14, 12 (a) Rounds containing 3 matches have the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20, 16, 14 (a) Rounds containing 2 matches have the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20, 16 (a) Rounds containing 1 match has the following Confidence Points available to allocate: 20 3.4.5. Once a match has started, the Confidence Points allocated to that match by a Participant (or for a Participant, as per Condition 1.4) is fixed and cannot be allocated to a different match. ====================================== 4. POSTPONEMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS ====================================== 4.1. If a scheduled match cannot be completed at or near its originally scheduled date, for whatever reason (such as, but not limited to conflicting match assignments from other competitions, adverse weather conditions or other "Acts of God", terrorism, pitch invasions or crowd violence), the Organisers reserve the right to mark the fixture as "Postponed". The Organisers will endeavour to communicate the impact of all fixture postponements on the tipping competition in a timely manner. 4.2. In the event that the AFL 2025 competition is cancelled before it commences, or before the completion of 50% of regular season games, all entry fees will be refunded. The cancellation of the competition after this event will result in prizes being paid as per the tipping ladder at the time of cancellation. ============================== 5. PAYMENTS & REGISTRATION ============================== 5.1. The entry fee for the competition is $30.00 for Participants paying via PayPal, and $35.00 for Participants paying by other means. 5.2. Payment of the entry fee must be received by the Organisers prior to Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at 7:50pm AEDT. Methods of payment are available from the Participant's "My Details" page once logged into the website. 5.3. Registration closes once the payment deadline expires. ============== 6. WINNERS ============== 6.1. At the conclusion of the tournament (considering Condition 4.2), prizes will be awarded to Participants shown on the Final Standings page (as described in Condition 3.1.2) who finished on the positions nominated in a defined prize list (to be announced via email by AFL Round 4). The tipping competition is expected to be completed on or around September 27th, 2025. 6.2. Prizes will be awarded to a number of Participants who finish at the top of the overall tipping competition standings. There will also be a number of prizes for finishing on a position nominated by the Organisers which is outside of the top prize-paying positions. 6.3. The total number of prizes and the Final Standings positions to which they are awarded will be finalised following the closing of registration (see Condition 5.2) and subsequent confirmation of final Participant numbers. 6.4. In the event of a tie for any position in the competition, the tie will be broken in favour of Participants that have a lower "Cumulative Margin" (calculated in accordance with the method set out in Condition 2.7 above). In the event that there is still a tie between entrants, the prize will be shared between those Participants tied on the same cumulative margin. ============================== 7. ORGANISER/ADMINISTRATOR ============================== 7.1. The Organiser of AFL Tipping is Braam Smith, and can be contacted on afl@onlinesportstipping.com. The Organiser reserves the right to appoint additional Organisers during the competition. ==================== 8. NEW REFERRALS ==================== 8.1. If registering with the AFL Tipping competition for the first time, you will be required to identify who referred you to the tipping competition. Once registered for the 2025 AFL Tipping competition, you will become available for others to select you as their referer. The first email you receive from the competition contains a link that you can provide to others so that they can register with the competition and attribute you as their referer. 8.2. The first five (5) participants to each refer five (5) or more registered and paid participants into AFL Tipping who are new to competitions run by OnlineSportsTipping.com, will each receive a Kayo Sports subscription gift card to a maximum value of AU$75.00 (or equivalent value in other eligible currencies). 8.3. The following conditions will need to be met for referers to be eligible to win: (a) Referees must be new, unique participants who have not previously participated in OnlineSportsTipping.com competitions. The organisers have ultimate discretion in determining whether a registrant is "new". (b) The entry fees of referees and their referer must be paid by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2. (c) Only referees that have paid their entry fee by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2 will count towards the participant's referee total. (d) The later of the time of the receipt of the referer's own entry fee, and the fifth (5th) entry fee received by their referred participants, will be the "eligible time" at which a referer becomes eligible to win a prize set out in Condition 8.2. If there are more than five eligible referers, the five with the earliest "eligible time" will be the winners. 8.4. There is a maximum of one (1) referral prize that can be won by any referer. 8.5. The referral-winning participant cannot be an organiser of the 2025 AFL Tipping competition (see Section 7), or organisers of other competitions run by OnlineSportsTipping.com. 8.6. For referral winners residing in countries where Kayo Sports is unavailable, alternative arrangements will be made to award a prize to a winning referer. =========================== 9. SURVIVOR COMPETITION =========================== 9.1. From Round 1 (that is, the round after the Opening Round) and in addition to regular Tips, all Participants mark one of their Tips as the match they are most confident in tipping correctly while considering other characteristics of Survivor competition. This will be referred to as the Participant's "Survivor Pick" for that tipping round. 9.2. If a Participant's Survivor Pick is successful, that Participant "survives" for that tipping round and continues to participate in the Survivor side-competition in the following tipping round. 9.3. If a Participant's Survivor Pick is unsuccessful, that Participant is eliminated from the Survivor side-competition. 9.4. Those Participants who have survived Round 1 continue on to Round 2. The same process repeats for Round 2 (and each subsequent) each tipping round until there is one Participant remaining at the end of a Survivor tipping round. This Participant wins the Survivor side-competition. 9.5. No six (6) consecutive Survivor Picks during the same Survivor competition can be for the same team. 9.6. Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition are able to submit their choice of Survivor Pick (subject to Condition 9.5) for matches that have not yet started, up to that time when at least 50% of matches for that tipping round have commenced. 9.6.1. The Tipping Website allocates the Survivor Pick for a tipping round to all Participants that have yet to submit a Survivor Pick after that point when 50% of the matches in the tipping round have commenced. The Survivor Pick allocated for such a Participant is drawn from their selections (also subject to Condition 9.5) at the conclusion of the tipping round. 9.7. The prize money awarded to the winner of each Survivor competition depends upon the final number of Participants (to be announced via email by AFL Round 4). 9.8. If time permits, another Survivor side-competition can be started after completion of the first Survivor side-competition. All Participants of the main competition shall be re-entered into any subsequent Survivor side-competition at no additional cost. 9.9. Finals will be included in any Survivor side-competition still running at that time. 9.10. Should all Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition have unsuccessful Survivor picks for a tipping round, those remaining Participants at the start of the tipping round will be reinstated and continue in the Survivor side-competition as of the next tipping round. This ensures a winner is eventually awarded only from the pool of Participants remaining as at the start of that tipping round. 9.11. Following the Grand Final, if there are multiple Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition, the prize money reserved for that Survivor side-competition shall be distributed equally among its remaining Participants.
